A magnificent display of classic Chinese blue-and-white porcelain, this Large Figure Story General Jar captures the spirit of the renowned Kangxi-era masterpieces.
The jar’s body is covered in a rich, deep cobalt-blue ground with elegant scrolling florals — reserved with two elegant white cartouches, each revealing a finely painted historical narrative scene.
Inside the panels, ancient Chinese figures in traditional robes are depicted in a courtyard setting — scholars and attendants in conversation, framed by weeping willows, pavilions, and garden architecture. This “opening the window to reveal a scene” (kai guang) technique has been a hallmark of fine Chinese porcelain for centuries.
The matching domed lid continues the blue-and-white decorative scheme and is topped with a classic peach-shaped finial. Layered decorative bands — key-fret borders, ruyi heads, and classic lotus-petal foot — complete the meticulously designed silhouette.
At an impressive 36 cm tall, this is a substantial piece that commands attention. It is ideal for a grand entryway, living room console, study, or display cabinet — a true statement of oriental elegance and antique refinement.
