A fine pair of antique Chinese coral-red (fan hong / iron-red) decorated porcelain ginger jars, each of stout ovoid form with a short neck, sweeping shoulder and recessed foot, surmounted by a matching domed cover with onion-shaped finial.
The ivory body is densely decorated in overglaze iron red with scrolling peony and chrysanthemum foliage, centered on a large and spiritedly drawn “囍” (Double Happiness) character reserved to the front — the classic emblem of bridal felicity, here repeated on the cover.
Borders of key-fret (huiwen) and thin red lines articulate the shoulder, foot and lid rim. The palette of muted brick-coral red against a soft, aged white glaze is characteristic of early-to-mid 20th century Chinese export / provincial wares made for both domestic and overseas auspicious use.
Offered as a matching pair, these jars are a natural fit for a china cabinet, library shelf, fireplace mantel, or entryway console — and a thoughtful, genuinely collectible gift for weddings, anniversaries or Asian-art enthusiasts.
